Gandolfo's

Three years ago I worked at a sandwich place called Gandolfo's, a NY style deli that had a great environment, a twist on deli sandwiches that i had never tasted before, I have nothing against deli companies, but I don't like to go to a store and buy something there I could make for a lot cheaper at home, what I found at this deli store was amazing combination's of cheese, meats and veggies, it opened my mind to other meats that in other ways I would of never learned how to appreciate, such as corn beef and pastrami, or the different twist a sandwich can take with vinegar flavor or sauerkraut, here is a list my favorite sandwiches from Gandolfo's and hope that you can delight from this classy deli store has much as I have!, after all one taste and you're there!

Big Apple
Cappicola, roast beef, pepper
jack, feta, lettuce, tomato,
onion, pepperoncini, mayo and oil and vinegar.

served either hot or cold, i absolutely recommend this as a hot sandwich, all the flavors blend in perfectly, the juicy roast beef, the strength of the feta cheese gets neutralized with the vinegar from the pepperoncini.

Urban Cowboy
Chicken breast, turkey, bacon,
pepper jack, cream cheese,
lettuce, tomato, BBQ sauce,
mayo

this one is served hot as well, the creaminess from the cream cheese and the crunchiness from the bacon, and the bbq sauce, blend perfectly with the pepper jack cheese.

this two sandwiches are a must, the entire menu is to die for, and the portions are very generous, besides gourmet sandwiches they also have a wide selection in salads and pasta's, the mermaid pasta is really good, and their homemade chocolate moose cake is delightful.

Sweet Home Chicago Pizzeria

I love pizza, i can eat pizza anytime, is one of my favorites, i always try to find places that mix a good environment and of course amazing food, and i found a place only 5 minutes from my house that has both of them, sweet home Chicago pizzeria, they homemade their dough, with quality ingredients that result in beautiful masterpieces of food, with their original Chicago style deep dish pizza, is a must!

This is how one of these masterpieces are made, first roll the homemade dough to fit the cooking tray, then you eliminate air bubbles by docking the dough, which is the process were you roll a pointy looking tool that almost perforates the dough, this sets the perfect platform to add the marinara sauce, then some Romano cheese, after which a nice layer of mozzarella cheese and then depending on the pizza the toppings, and topped with more mozzarella cheese and a gentle sprinkle of oregano that just compliments the pizza with the right melody.

the meat toppings consist of: Italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, chicken, capicola, salami, prosciutto, meatballs and anchovy.

the veggies and whatnot: olive, green pepper, tomato, onion, mushroom, pineapple, jalapeno, basil, garlic, spinach, and the amazing spicy mix of hot giardinera peppers.

and after a good meal and a delightful evening in the beautiful shopping area of the district, i recommend a nice drive down the street to the Daybreak community, to enjoy the fresh air, the breeze, and bring some crumbs to make lots of new feathered friends!

so... what are you waiting for, go get you some pizza!
